Starting Services
Prior to starting therapy, you will have a conversation on the phone with one of our clinicians to discuss the concerns you want to address in therapy. We will ensure those concerns fall within our skills and abilities to address. We will discuss your availability to meet and make sure it matches with our schedule. We each have a set schedule each week and to see us you must be able to meet during that schedule.
Cancellation and No-Show Policy
If you need to cancel your appointment please do so with at least 24 hours notice, so that spot can be given to another client. If you do not cancel with 24 hours notice you will be charged a $100 fee. Cancellation with less than 24 hours notice or not showing up to an appointment is allowed 3 times-emergencies happen. The third time this happens your case will be closed for 6 months. If you wish to return after 6 months you are welcome to start again.
Intake Paperwork
Intake paperwork is to be completed prior to the first session. The preferred method is to complete it online via a link that is emailed to you. If you do not have the capability of filling it out online, a paper copy can be mailed to you. Services cannot begin without the completion of all the intake paperwork, including proof of insurance.
What to Expect in a Therapy Session
Generally session include 50 minutes of interaction between the therapist and the client. Following each session we take 10 minutes to write a summary of the session and plans for the following session. Session may include just the client, or the client and other significant people the client would like to include. Sessions are completed either at the office or via Teletherapy if allowed by your insurance company. Each session is tailored to the needs of the client that week. Sessions include processing recent and past events, discussing psychological phenomena to better understand a client’s situation, practicing skills to manage stressors, problem solving situations, planning for future events, and identifying the desired changes a client is making.
